Jail History and Structure

In 1980, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Livingston. The justice center houses the Sumter County county sheriff, Livingston police department offices, and the Sumter County Jail. The Sumter County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Sumter County Jail. Originally, the Sumter County Jail could house approximately 1773 inmates.

Over the years, the Sumter County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Sumter County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
