Jail History and Structure

In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Boulder. The justice center houses the Boulder County county sheriff, Boulder police department offices, and the Boulder County Jail. The Boulder County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Boulder County Jail. Originally, the Boulder County Jail could house approximately 2161 inmates.
