Jail History and Structure

In 1989, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown LaBelle. The justice center houses the Hendry County county sheriff, LaBelle police department offices, and the Hendry County Jail. The Hendry County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Hendry County Jail. Originally, the Hendry County Jail could house approximately 1406 inmates.

Over the years, the Hendry County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Hendry County county.
