Jail History and Structure

In 1990, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ocala. The justice center houses the Marion County county sheriff, Ocala police department offices, and the Marion County Jail. The Marion County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Marion County Jail. Originally, the Marion County Jail could house approximately 1841 inmates.

Over the years, the Marion County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Marion County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
