Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Defuniak Springs. The justice center houses the Walton County county sheriff, Defuniak Springs police department offices, and the Walton County Jail. The Walton County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Walton County Jail. Originally, the Walton County Jail could house approximately 1405 inmates.
