Jail History and Structure
In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Rome. The justice center houses the Floyd County county sheriff, Rome police department offices, and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Jail. The Floyd County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Jail. Originally, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Jail could house approximately 2031 inmates.
