Jail History and Structure

In 1989, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Lawrenceville. The justice center houses the Gwinnett County county sheriff, Lawrenceville police department offices, and the Gwinnett County Jail. The Gwinnett County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Gwinnett County Jail. Originally, the Gwinnett County Jail could house approximately 1716 inmates.
