Jail History and Structure

In 1979, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Alamo. The justice center houses the Wheeler County county sheriff, Alamo police department offices, and the Wheeler County Jail. The Wheeler County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Wheeler County Jail. Originally, the Wheeler County Jail could house approximately 1966 inmates.
