Jail History and Structure

In 1980, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Wailuku. The justice center houses the Maui County county sheriff, Wailuku police department offices, and the County of Maui Jail. The Maui County county sheriff is the general overseer of the County of Maui Jail. Originally, the County of Maui Jail could house approximately 2164 inmates.
