Jail History and Structure
In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Vernon. The justice center houses the Jennings County county sheriff, Vernon police department offices, and the Jennings County Jail. The Jennings County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Jennings County Jail. Originally, the Jennings County Jail could house approximately 2365 inmates.
