Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Plymouth. The justice center houses the Marshall County county sheriff, Plymouth police department offices, and the Marshall County Jail. The Marshall County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Marshall County Jail. Originally, the Marshall County Jail could house approximately 2135 inmates.

Over the years, the Marshall County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Marshall County county.
