Jail History and Structure

In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Guthrie Center. The justice center houses the Guthrie County county sheriff, Guthrie Center police department offices, and the Guthrie County Jail. The Guthrie County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Guthrie County Jail. Originally, the Guthrie County Jail could house approximately 1823 inmates.

Over the years, the Guthrie County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Guthrie County county.

Juvenile Detention Center

It is part and parcel of Guthrie County Jail but deals with the detention and correction of offensive youths. The Guthrie County Jail has a 141-bed capacity. Counselling, health assessments, recreation, education, and intervention services are provided to the youth held at the Guthrie County Jail.
