Jail History and Structure

In 1985, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ottawa. The justice center houses the Franklin County county sheriff, Ottawa police department offices, and the Franklin County Jail. The Franklin County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Franklin County Jail. Originally, the Franklin County Jail could house approximately 1992 inmates.

Over the years, the Franklin County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Franklin County county.
