Jail History and Structure

In 1983, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Bethany. The justice center houses the Harrison County county sheriff, Bethany police department offices, and the Harrison County Jail. The Harrison County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Harrison County Jail. Originally, the Harrison County Jail could house approximately 1610 inmates.

Over the years, the Harrison County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Harrison County county.
