Jail History and Structure
In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Saint Charles. The justice center houses the St. Charles County county sheriff, Saint Charles police department offices, and the St. Charles County Corrections Center. The St. Charles County county sheriff is the general overseer of the St. Charles County Corrections Center. Originally, the St. Charles County Corrections Center could house approximately 1777 inmates.
Over the years, the St. Charles County Corrections Center has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the St. Charles County county.
Juvenile Detention Center
It is part and parcel of St. Charles County Corrections Center but deals with the detention and correction of offensive youths. The St. Charles County Corrections Center has a 124-bed capacity.
