Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown David City. The justice center houses the Butler County county sheriff, David City police department offices, and the Butler County Jail. The Butler County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Butler County Jail. Originally, the Butler County Jail could house approximately 2470 inmates.

Over the years, the Butler County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Butler County county.
