Jail History and Structure

In 1990, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Bridgeport. The justice center houses the Morrill County county sheriff, Bridgeport police department offices, and the Morrill County Jail. The Morrill County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Morrill County Jail. Originally, the Morrill County Jail could house approximately 1745 inmates.

Over the years, the Morrill County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Morrill County county.

Juvenile Detention Center

It is part and parcel of Morrill County Jail but deals with the detention and correction of offensive youths. The Morrill County Jail has a 136-bed capacity. Counselling, health assessments, recreation, education, and intervention services are provided to the youth held at the Morrill County Jail.

The Morrill County Jail comprises three units: the girl’s detention unit, the boy’s detention unit, and the detention control center.
