Jail History and Structure

In 1979, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Lowville. The justice center houses the Lewis County county sheriff, Lowville police department offices, and the Lewis County Jail. The Lewis County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Lewis County Jail. Originally, the Lewis County Jail could house approximately 2291 inmates.
