Jail History and Structure

In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Schenectady. The justice center houses the Schenectady County county sheriff, Schenectady police department offices, and the Schenectady County Jail. The Schenectady County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Schenectady County Jail. Originally, the Schenectady County Jail could house approximately 2270 inmates.
