Jail History and Structure

In 1980, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ithaca. The justice center houses the Tompkins County county sheriff, Ithaca police department offices, and the Tompkins County Jail. The Tompkins County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Tompkins County Jail. Originally, the Tompkins County Jail could house approximately 2248 inmates.
