Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Carrollton. The justice center houses the Carroll County county sheriff, Carrollton police department offices, and the Carroll County Jail. The Carroll County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Carroll County Jail. Originally, the Carroll County Jail could house approximately 1605 inmates.

Over the years, the Carroll County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Carroll County county.
