Jail History and Structure
In 1979, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Eaton. The justice center houses the Preble County county sheriff, Eaton police department offices, and the Preble County Jail. The Preble County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Preble County Jail. Originally, the Preble County Jail could house approximately 2080 inmates.
Over the years, the Preble County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Preble County county.
