Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Lakeview. The justice center houses the Lake County county sheriff, Lakeview police department offices, and the Lake County Jail. The Lake County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Lake County Jail. Originally, the Lake County Jail could house approximately 2177 inmates.

Over the years, the Lake County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Lake County county.
