Jail History and Structure
In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Eugene. The justice center houses the Lane County county sheriff, Eugene police department offices, and the Lane County Jail. The Lane County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Lane County Jail. Originally, the Lane County Jail could house approximately 1981 inmates.
