Jail History and Structure

In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Fairfax. The justice center houses the Fairfax County county sheriff, Fairfax police department offices, and the Fairfax Pre-Release Center. The Fairfax County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Fairfax Pre-Release Center. Originally, the Fairfax Pre-Release Center could house approximately 2025 inmates.
