Jail History and Structure
In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Sussex. The justice center houses the Sussex County county sheriff, Sussex police department offices, and the Sussex County Jail. The Sussex County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Sussex County Jail. Originally, the Sussex County Jail could house approximately 2080 inmates.
