Jail History and Structure

In 1982, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Union. The justice center houses the Monroe County county sheriff, Union police department offices, and the Monroe County Jail. The Monroe County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Monroe County Jail. Originally, the Monroe County Jail could house approximately 1532 inmates.
