Jail History and Structure

In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Crandon. The justice center houses the Forest County county sheriff, Crandon police department offices, and the Forest County Jail. The Forest County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Forest County Jail. Originally, the Forest County Jail could house approximately 1566 inmates.

Over the years, the Forest County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Forest County county.
