Jail History and Structure
In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Monroe. The justice center houses the Green County county sheriff, Monroe police department offices, and the Green County Jail. The Green County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Green County Jail. Originally, the Green County Jail could house approximately 1856 inmates.
Over the years, the Green County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Green County county.
