Jail History and Structure

In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Wausau. The justice center houses the Marathon County county sheriff, Wausau police department offices, and the Marathon County Jail. The Marathon County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Marathon County Jail. Originally, the Marathon County Jail could house approximately 2333 inmates.
