Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ellsworth. The justice center houses the Pierce County county sheriff, Ellsworth police department offices, and the Pierce County Jail. The Pierce County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Pierce County Jail. Originally, the Pierce County Jail could house approximately 2368 inmates.

Over the years, the Pierce County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Pierce County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
