Jail History and Structure

In 1980, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Balsam Lake. The justice center houses the Polk County county sheriff, Balsam Lake police department offices, and the Polk County Jail. The Polk County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Polk County Jail. Originally, the Polk County Jail could house approximately 1616 inmates.
