Jail History and Structure

In 1983, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Haines. The justice center houses the Haines County county sheriff, Haines police department offices, and the Haines County Jail. The Haines County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Haines County Jail. Originally, the Haines County Jail could house approximately 1515 inmates.

Over the years, the Haines County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Haines County county.
