Jail History and Structure

In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Breckenridge. The justice center houses the Summit County county sheriff, Breckenridge police department offices, and the Summit County Jail & Detention Center. The Summit County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Summit County Jail & Detention Center. Originally, the Summit County Jail & Detention Center could house approximately 2168 inmates.
