Jail History and Structure
In 1981, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Madison. The justice center houses the Morgan County county sheriff, Madison police department offices, and the Morgan County Detention Center. The Morgan County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Morgan County Detention Center. Originally, the Morgan County Detention Center could house approximately 1713 inmates.
