Jail History and Structure

In 1976, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Nevada. The justice center houses the Story County county sheriff, Nevada police department offices, and the Story County Jail. The Story County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Story County Jail. Originally, the Story County Jail could house approximately 1551 inmates.

Over the years, the Story County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Story County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
