Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Fort Scott. The justice center houses the Bourbon County county sheriff, Fort Scott police department offices, and the Bourbon County Jail. The Bourbon County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Bourbon County Jail. Originally, the Bourbon County Jail could house approximately 1697 inmates.

Over the years, the Bourbon County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Bourbon County county.
