Jail History and Structure

In 1990, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Mound City. The justice center houses the Linn County county sheriff, Mound City police department offices, and the Linn County Jail. The Linn County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Linn County Jail. Originally, the Linn County Jail could house approximately 1801 inmates.

Over the years, the Linn County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Linn County county.
