Jail History and Structure

In 1982, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Gove. The justice center houses the Gove County county sheriff, Gove police department offices, and the Gove County Jail. The Gove County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Gove County Jail. Originally, the Gove County Jail could house approximately 2280 inmates.

Over the years, the Gove County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Gove County county.

Juvenile Detention Center

It is part and parcel of Gove County Jail but deals with the detention and correction of offensive youths. The Gove County Jail has a 139-bed capacity. Counselling, health assessments, recreation, education, and intervention services are provided to the youth held at the Gove County Jail.
