Jail History and Structure

In 1986, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Fredonia. The justice center houses the Wilson County county sheriff, Fredonia police department offices, and the Wilson County Jail. The Wilson County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Wilson County Jail. Originally, the Wilson County Jail could house approximately 2070 inmates.
