Jail History and Structure

In 1983, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Beattyville. The justice center houses the Lee County county sheriff, Beattyville police department offices, and the Lee County Jail. The Lee County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Lee County Jail. Originally, the Lee County Jail could house approximately 1561 inmates.

Over the years, the Lee County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Lee County county.
