In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Prince Frederick. The justice center houses the Calvert County county sheriff, Prince Frederick police department offices, and the Calvert County Detention Center. The Calvert County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Calvert County Detention Center. Originally, the Calvert County Detention Center could house approximately 1515 inmates.
