Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Wayne. The justice center houses the Wayne County county sheriff, Wayne police department offices, and the Wayne County Jail. The Wayne County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Wayne County Jail. Originally, the Wayne County Jail could house approximately 1622 inmates.

Over the years, the Wayne County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Wayne County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
