Jail History and Structure
In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Batavia. The justice center houses the Genesee County county sheriff, Batavia police department offices, and the Genesee County Jail. The Genesee County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Genesee County Jail. Originally, the Genesee County Jail could house approximately 2028 inmates.
