Jail History and Structure

In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Towner. The justice center houses the McHenry County county sheriff, Towner police department offices, and the McHenry County Jail. The McHenry County county sheriff is the general overseer of the McHenry County Jail. Originally, the McHenry County Jail could house approximately 1531 inmates.
