Jail History and Structure

In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ada. The justice center houses the Pontotoc County county sheriff, Ada police department offices, and the Pontotoc County Jail. The Pontotoc County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Pontotoc County Jail. Originally, the Pontotoc County Jail could house approximately 1805 inmates.
