Jail History and Structure

In 1984, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Sallisaw. The justice center houses the Sequoyah County county sheriff, Sallisaw police department offices, and the Sequoyah County Jail. The Sequoyah County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Sequoyah County Jail. Originally, the Sequoyah County Jail could house approximately 1742 inmates.

Over the years, the Sequoyah County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Sequoyah County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
