Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Clear Lake. The justice center houses the Deuel County county sheriff, Clear Lake police department offices, and the Deuel County Jail. The Deuel County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Deuel County Jail. Originally, the Deuel County Jail could house approximately 1814 inmates.
