Jail History and Structure

In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown De Smet. The justice center houses the Kingsbury County county sheriff, De Smet police department offices, and the Kingsbury County Jail. The Kingsbury County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Kingsbury County Jail. Originally, the Kingsbury County Jail could house approximately 1989 inmates.
