Jail History and Structure

In 1987, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Alexandria. The justice center houses the Alexandria County county sheriff, Alexandria police department offices, and the Alexandria County Jail. The Alexandria County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Alexandria County Jail. Originally, the Alexandria County Jail could house approximately 1732 inmates.
